HARRISBURG – Focused on supporting the families of children with terminal illness, Secretary of Public Welfare Estelle B. Richman announced the creation of the Pediatric Palliative and Hospice Care Task Force and invited the public to become involved.
“When families are faced with life’s most difficult challenges, they sometimes are unsure of where to turn to get the information and direction they need the most,” said Richman. “Through the creation of the task force, we’re making a commitment to children and their families to continue working to provide them with the resources they need.”
The new task force has been charged with evaluating support services now available to families with respect to providing proper and appropriate pediatric palliative and hospice care to children in need. Once fully operational, the task force will focus on identifying challenges to receiving palliative and hospice care, while developing recommendations to resolve those challenges.
