Man Accused of Sex Crimes has Hearing
CLEARFIELD – A Curwensville man accused of various sex crimes had a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
Terry Lee Kougher, 34, is accused of two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, two counts of statutory sexual assault, two counts of aggravated indecent assault, nine overall counts of corruption of minors, two counts of indecent assault and 11 counts of other sex crimes.

Charges Filed Against Reynoldsville Woman for Kyle Lake Incident
FALLS CREEK – Charges have been filed against a 21-year-old Reynoldsville woman for making false reports to police about being unlawfully restrained at Kyle Lake.
According to the DuBois-based state police, the woman originally reported that she was being held by an unknown person on July 13. State police investigated the incident and arrested the woman for making false statements to law enforcement.

Local Woman Pens Third Historical Book
CLEARFIELD – In her third book with Arcadia Publishing, Julie Rae Rickard tells the story of Curwensville’s past through over 200 vintage photographs.
From the days of the lumber industry to the brick making, tannery and quarries, Curwensville has come a long way from its humble beginnings.
Rickard previously authored ‘Clearfield County’ and ‘Clearfield’ through Arcadia Publishing.

County Commissioners Name Businesses Delinquent in Filing Hotel Tax Paperwork
CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners announced county establishments that have not filed reports as part of the county’s hotel tax program.
According to Rex Read, commissioner chairman, three hotels are currently outstanding in filing their hotel tax reports for the third quarter this year. Read also said that the establishments have been made aware of their status through the mailing of notices.

Women Accused of Attempted Kwik Fill Robbery Waive Hearings
CLEARFIELD – Two woman accused of taking part in the attempted robbery of Kwik Fill in Decatur Township waived their rights to preliminary hearings on Wednesday.
Nicole M. Rudy, 24 of Moshannon, is charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, criminal attempt to commit theft by unlawful taking and criminal conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking.
Tami M. Koch, 22 of Altoona, is charged with criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, criminal attempt to commit theft by unlawful taking and criminal conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking. The commonwealth withdrew a charge of robbery against Koch.

Sandy Township Moves Forward with Kiwanis Trail Project
DUBOIS – Sandy Township is moving forward with a proposed water and sewage project in the Kiwanis Trail area.
According to Dick Castonguay, township manager, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reviewed the project area and invited Sandy Township to submit a full application.
Castonguay said that the township would need to submit a public notice, ask for intergovernmental review and have an environmental review done in the project area.

Kerr Addition Residents Express Anger to LT Supers
CLEARFIELD – A number of residents of Kerr Addition turned out at the Lawrence Township Supervisors meeting to express anger over railroad ties placed on an unnamed alley.
The unnamed alley sits in the area of Bowman’s Hill Road. The residents along the unnamed alley must use the alleyway to enter and leave their homes.
According to resident Eleanor Dullen and Walter and Darlene Haight, Jim McKenrick placed railroad ties on the road.

Outgoing Board Members Recognized at Clearfield School Board Meeting
CLEARFIELD – The recent elections mean change for local school boards. Clearfield Area School District Superintendent Denise Keltz thanked outgoing board members Joseph Bower, Sandy Sloppy, Ralph Lingle and Jeff Carns at Monday night’s meeting of the Clearfield Area School Board of Directors.
Keltz highlighted the service of Bower and Sloppy. Noting that these members in particular have worked through unusual difficulties for a school board, going above and beyond the regular duties of board members, Keltz said, “ We did what it took. We made really hard decisions together. ”
Incoming board members David Glass, Susan Mikesell and Philip Carr will join returning members Tim Morgan and Larry Putt for new 4 year terms.
