CLEARFIELD – Two woman accused of taking part in the attempted robbery of Kwik Fill in Decatur Township waived their rights to preliminary hearings on Wednesday.
Nicole M. Rudy, 24 of Moshannon, is charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, criminal attempt to commit theft by unlawful taking and criminal conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking.
Tami M. Koch, 22 of Altoona, is charged with criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, criminal attempt to commit theft by unlawful taking and criminal conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking. The commonwealth withdrew a charge of robbery against Koch.
According to court records, Rudy and Koch allegedly went to Kwik Fill in Decatur Township on Oct. 26. According to the alleged victim in the case, around 8:20 a.m. a girl with a knife tried to rob him. He told state police that she pulled a knife on him and told him to give her money.
The man told police that he grabbed her wrist and they scuffled. She ran out the door and dropped the knife. She ran to the back of the store where a car was parked. The car then fled.
On Oct. 28 Koch was interviewed about the robbery. Koch reportedly told police that she and Rudy had been talking about robbing something. Koch said that Rudy’s mind was made up on the subject and that Koch told her she was not going to help her. Koch said that Rudy left and returned, asking if she could go with her and a friend. Koch told her no.
The next morning they went to Altoona. They then went to Comet. They left there and Rudy allegedly told Koch she was going to rob something. They reportedly pulled in behind Kwik Fill. Rudy went inside and when she returned her face was bleeding. Koch said she tried to drive the car away because Rudy was bleeding and Rudy asked her too.
Koch told police that Rudy told her she told the guy to give her the money and that she had the knife out. Rudy told her the guy pushed her against a wall, her face got cut and her glasses were knocked off, with one lens getting broken.
They only went a short distance because Koch could not drive a standard. They switched rides at this point, according to Koch.
State police interviewed Rudy on Oct. 28 in relation to the robbery. Rudy reportedly told police that she did go into the store and pull out a knife that she had hidden in her sweatshirt. Rudy said that she asked for money and that she was not going to hurt anyone.
She told police that the worker grabbed her and put her against a wall, which she said really surprised her. She said that she did not think he would resist.
Rudy related that during the struggle she cut herself on the face with the knife. She fled, dropping the knife. She said that when she opened the car door she hit herself in the face with the car door, knocking a lens out of her glasses.
Both women are currently being held in jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
