INDIANA, PA – Nearly 200 drivers, fans and track employees turned out for the annual Dog Hollow Speedway awards banquet on Saturday night at the Novosel Center in Indiana.
Clate Copeman of Greensburg collected six feature wins en route to the Townsend Gas and Oil Late Model title this season. He was joined at the banquet by the following drivers: Bill Krause (third), Dan Lee (fifth), Rudy Bassaro (ninth) and John Jackson (tenth).
In the Stoystown Auto Wreckers Fastrak Late Models it was Dave Padula of Greencastle taking the point title for his first time ever. He picked up eight feature wins on his way to earning the championship. He was joined by Ron Smithley (third), Dan Angelicchio (fifth) and Kirby Tucker (sixth) to receive trophies.
The Hugill Sales and Service Street Stocks saw point champion Mike Laughard of Twin Rocks pick up is four Dog Hollow Speedway title. Laughard picked up four wins during his championship run. The top three were separated by only 11 points at the end of the season. Jeff Sweeney (second); John Kinsey (third), Ray Charles (fourth), Corey Poraczky (sixth), Randy Campbell (seventh) and Todd Weiner (tenth) joined Laughard for as trophy recipients.
In the Brush Valley Tire Pure Stocks it was Tim Laughard of Vinco picking up his first ever Dog Hollow Speedway point title. He amassed six feature wins on the season.
Other pure stock drivers attending the banquet include: Tim Good (second), John Mazey (third), Marshall Detwiler (fourth), Rich Powell (fifth), Matt Summers (seventh), Gary Furman Jr., (eighth) and Brian Daughenbaugh (tenth) were also in attendance to collect their laurels.
Dan Adams of Nanty Glo earned three feature wins on the way to his first every points title in the Texas Auto Ranch Four Cylinder Sidewinders. Joining his to receive trophies were: Mark Maglet (second), Scott Shirk (third), Paul Little (fourth). Chris Yoder (sixth); Jay Schettini (seventh), Jason Bialowas (eighth) and Nathan Good (tenth).
Each of the point champions received a trophy, a point check, and 8×10 2008 calendar and they will receive a jacket…Fastrak Late Model drivers that ran series races were entered in a chance to win a Pro 1 Chassis from Floyd Kline. Mr. Kline was on hand to draw the winner and the winner was JR Wright of Richmond, OH…The 2008 season will begin on April 26 with practices the two Saturdays before that.
