Accused Truck Thief Waives Hearing

CLEARFIELD – An Osceola Mills man who allegedly admitted to stealing a pick-up truck from a car dealership waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge James Hawkins.

Randall S. Nyman, 38, is alleged to have smashed a window at Ryder Ford in Chester Hill Borough in July 2006. Once inside, he is said to have loaded 11 boxes of tools, a vehicle computer, a tool box containing tools, eight coffee cakes from a vending machine, a set of keys for a 2006 Ford Escape and two Pennsylvania registration plates into a 2000 Ford F-250.

An office window, a metal tool, a door knob and a vending machine were all reportedly damaged in the incident.

Court records state that Nyman cut his head when he entered Ryder Ford through the window. Blood from the wound was reportedly found inside the 2006 Ford Escape.

After Nyman left the business, he is reported to have driven to an area near Bowman’s Hill Road in Lawrence Township where the 2000 Ford F-250 was lit on fire.

Nyman was later interviewed by police regarding the incident. He told troopers that at the time of the incident, he just found out his fiancee was cheating on him.

“It then got the best of me, and I just snapped,” he told police, according to court papers.

Nyman also admitted to doing the illegal drug cocaine. “I felt that I lost everything that I loved.”

Nyman also allegedly told investigators that he called police to return the tools that were taken using a fake name. He said he used the name of his ex-fiancee’s new boyfriend.

Nyman is being held in Clearfield County Jail on unrelated charges.
