Curwensville Teen Killed in Early-Morning Crash

WOODLAND – A 17-year-old Curwensville girl was killed when her car crossed the center line and hit a tractor-trailer.

State police at Clearfield are not releasing the girl’s name due to her age.

Police report that the girl was traveling west on U.S. Route 322 at about 5:10 a.m. Thursday when her car crossed into the lane of Jason M. Connor, 32, of Philipsburg. He was driving a tractor-trailer on U.S. 322 east.
Connor attempted to swerve and brake, traveling into a yard, but the girl’s car struck the tractor-trailer in the eastbound lane of U.S. 322. Connor’s rig jack-knifed partially in the eastbound lane near Baughman Road.

The girl was pronounced dead at the scene by Clearfield County Deputy Coroner Michael Polachek at 6:52 a.m. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of th crash.

Connor was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

The investigation continues, and police ask those who may have seen the crash to call 857-3800.
