Accident Results in One Man Being Airlifted for Treatment

WOODLAND – A two-vehicle accident at the intersection of state Route 970 and Egypt Road in Bradford Township resulted in one man being flown to Altoona for treatment.

According to Clearfield-based state police a Los Angeles, Cal. man was traveling north on SR 970 and approaching Egypt Road. He drove off the roadway and onto the eastern berm in an attempted to make a left turn through the intersection and onto Pleasant Valley Road. He failed to yield prior to into the intersection.

Robert J. Cowder of Bigler was also traveling north as the Los Angeles man attempted to enter the intersection. He struck the trailer of the California man’s truck and drove through it. This left paper products strewn across the roadway as well as the trailer split in half.

Cowder continued another 120 feet before his vehicle overturned and came to rest in a grass field.

Cowder was flown to Altoona Trauama Center for treatment of moderate injuries. The Los Angeles man reportedly suffered no injuries. The Los Angeles man will be cited for failing to yield and causing the accident.

Police were assisted at the scene by Clearfield Emergency Medical Services, Bradford Township Fire Department, BJW Fire Department and PennDOT.
