Clearfield Borough Discusses Land Purchase

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Borough Council is considering purchasing some real estate within the borough limits.

That news came out of a special meeting held Tuesday night.

The council members met with Solicitor F. Cortez “Chip” Bell III, Mayor Patty Gilliland, Clearfield County Economic Development Corp. Executive Director and an unnamed man for about one and one-half hours before reconvening the meeting and adjourning.

Bell noted that there are some questions for which he needs to find answers, but he said council could possibly take action on the issue at their regular meeting Thursday at 7 p.m.

A vote to purchase land would have to be made in a public session, however, Pennsylvania’s Sunshine Act permits the council to hold an executive session for several reasons, among them, the purchase or lease of real property.
