Unveiling at Curwensville School Board Meeting

CURWENSVILLE – At Monday night’s meeting of the Curwensville Area School Board, Superintendent Norman Hatten and Board President Ken Veideffer unveiled a portrait of Alan Fairman to be displayed in the gymnasium of the Fairman Community Recreation Center.

Involved as a volunteer with youth sports for almost all of his adult life, Fairman was responsible for the construction of the Fairman Center located at the Curwensville Schools complex.

Fairman’s best known effort at Curwensville was perhaps his rekindling of the Curwensville Golden Tide’s girls basketball program.

Thanking the family for their gift Hatten said, “No words can express our gratitude.”

The Alan Fairman Community Recreation Center houses a gymnasium and fitness center. The facility is used for both school and community events. The public is welcomed at the Fairman Center two nights a week.
