CLEARFIELD – After a petition from less than 10 voters in Bigler Township was received, the Clearfield County Commissioners are accepting comment on a request to change the polling location in that municipality.
Bigler Township voters currently cast their ballots at the Bigler Township building, but some residents believe that the new Madera Fire Co., about one-quarter mile from the township building, is a better location.
Off-street parking is available at the fire hall, and the building is handicapped-accessible.
“It would certainly be better for the voters,” said Clearfield County Commissioner Mike Lytle, who added that there are several handicapped parking spaces in the fire hall’s lot.
The commissioners are working on contacting the fire company to determine whether the organization would have an interest in hosting elections. The county pays $40 per election to rent space.
Those who would like to comment on the proposed change should direct correspondence to the commissioners.
