Major Construction Planned for Second Street in Clearfield, Drivers to Find Alternate Routes

CLEARFIELD – A plan to work on Second Street from Choice Cigarette Outlet to Bridge Street has prompted Clearfield Borough Police Chief Jeff Rhone to urge drivers to avoid the area altogether.

“It’s going to create quite an issue with traffic,” he said.

Construction crews do plan to work on one side of the one-way road at a time, but delays are likely.

In addition, parking will not be allowed on Second Street in the area of the work.

The schedule calls for milling from Choice to Cherry Street from about 7 a.m. until about 7 p.m. on Monday. Tuesday’s work entails milling from Cherry Street to Bridge Street from about 7 a.m. to about 7 p.m. Work is set to finish on Wednesday for the week with a bit scratch course being laid on the entire length of South Second Street from about 7 a.m. until about 7 p.m.

The wearing course will be placed on the entire roadway likely during the week of Sept. 24.

Flaggers will be assigned to direct traffic at intersections.

The construction crew noted that they will do their best to accommodate children and parents at St. Francis School.
