Clearfield Borough Makes Way for Business

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough Council voted to approve two ordinances at Thursday’s special meeting, both of which will aid in business development within the borough.

The first closed and vacated an unnamed alley between the J.J. Powell building on Bridge Street and the former Charles Heating Building. This will allow for the development of a new Rite Aid on the site.

The second ordinance closed and vacated a portion of Technology Drive from Bigler Avenue to lot No. 3 in the Clearfield County Technology Park. The change comes at the request of BioEnergy International LLC and Bionol Clearfield. The company plans to build a 108-million-gallon-per-year ethanol plant on the parcel.

Bionol Clearfield will also have to construct an access road for the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging’s meal production facility, PP&L and a proposed building for the Department of Public Welfare if closing the road and creating a new public access point would change the flow of traffic into the other facilities.
