Psychology of Healing Addressed for Breast Cancer Patients

DUBOIS – Getting a diagnosis of having breast cancer can be confusing, scary, sad and overwhelming.

That is why DuBois Regional Medical Center is offering “Adjusting to Breast Cancer,” a six-week therapy group that will focus on helping a newly diagnosed patient improve her physical, emotional and spiritual health.

A lot of stress can come from a lack of information about the disease process itself, the common emotional reactions and what treatments will do. By learning and talking, a lot of the stress can be eleviated.

The group will meet from 4:30-5:30 p.m. starting Oct. 4 at the Behavioral Health Outpatient Clinic located on the third floor of DRMC East along Maple Avenue in DuBois.

The group leader is Dr. Autumn Keefer DRMC health psychologist.

To register, call Sandy Stom, nurse, at DRMC Breast Care Services, 375-4063 or at sastom@drmc.org by Sept. 27. Most commercial insurances are accepted, but co-pays will apply. Check with your insurance provider for details.
