Mother Nature Stops Racing Action at Hummingbird

Reynoldsville —With seven heat races completed, and the pure stocks on the track, a heavy thunderstorm overtook Hummingbird Speedway Saturday evening forcing the cancellation of the racing program.

The rainout was the fourth this season and first since June 2. With the rainout, the season championships and Eric McGarvey Memorial will be held on September 8. Next weekend will be the third annual Mick Orsich Memorial races with a two-day program scheduled. Saturday will be the 35-lap limited late model special paying $1,500 to the winner. The pure stocks and front wheel drive four-cylinders will also be on the card.

A Chinese auction will also be held Saturday with many great items to bid on. All proceeds from the auction will go to the Hahne Cancer Center in DuBois. Sunday’s racing will feature a 30-lap main event for the street stocks paying $1,000 to the winner. The rear wheel drive four-cylinders and front wheel drive four-cylinders will also be on this card. Lap money will also be paid in the limited late and street stock features. The 358 small block modifieds initially scheduled for Sunday were dropped due to lack of car count. Gates on both evenings will open at 3:30pm with racing at 7. General admission for Saturday will be $12 and $10 on Sunday or a two-day pass for $20. Pit admission for both days will be $20.
