Treasure Lake Property Ordered Demolished by Sandy Supers

DUBOIS – The owners of a Treasure Lake property have 10 days to demolish a home on Sea Horse Road that has been called an eyesore, a hazard and worse.

The decision comes after the Sandy Township supervisors approved a declaration stating that the house is dangerous or dilapidated. Supervisors pointed to a hearing held two weeks ago during which 21 findings of fact were disclosed.

Among the problems pointed out regarding the house a tree on the building’s roof and open doors and windows. Sandy Township secured the open doors and windows nearly one year ago, but other problems persisted, such as a bowed roof and a basement full of water.

The supervisors noted in the public hearing earlier this month that there had been no attempts to repair the building by Ernest Gray and James Lucas, both apparently of Lancaster.

If Gray and Lucas fail to demolish the building within 10 days, the township will do so, resulting in a lien against the property.
