Curwensville Borough Receives Grant Monies

CURWENSVILLE – The Parks and Recreation Committee of the Curwensville Borough Council recently had $16,250 released from a $25,000 grant for improvements at Irvin Park on Susquehanna Avenue.

Council is in the process of locating a contractor to complete the renovations.

Dave McNaul, president, also reminded council that they need to raise $5,000 to receive an additional $5,000 in matching grant funds to furnish Irvin Park with playground equipment.

The borough has also received a $5,000 grant for the transcription of old records. Records from 1851 through 1965 were slated for hand transcription. This estimated cost was $3,100. Council decided to have additional years transcribed to make full use of the $5,000.

It was also learned that if Interstate 80 is converted to a toll road Curwensville Borough would receive approximately $7,000 more per year in Liquid Fuels Tax monies.
