Two Injured in Head-On Accident on Interstate 80

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – A head-on collision on Interstate 80 sent resulted in two men being injured, according to DuBois-based state police.

Police are not naming the driver of one vehicle until his family notified. According to police that 22-year-old driver got onto I-80 and began driving westbound in the eastbound lane. He then struck a tractor trailer driven by David Tomich of Crown Point, Ind. head-on.

The eastbound lane of the interstate was closed for four hours according to police. The unnamed driver was transported to Altoona Regional for treatment of moderate to severe injuries. DUI charges are pending the results of blood tests. Tomich suffered minor injuries.
