Clearfield Borough Scheduled to Vote on Advertising Parking Ordinance

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough is set to vote on whether a proposed parking ordinance should be advertised at Thursday’s meeting.

The issue will be brought before the full council after the Planning and Community Development Committee recommended it to the full council this week.

The ordinance, if enacted, would prohibit any vehicle more than 9 feet wide from parking on any paved surface less than 24 feet wide.

In addition, the following wording is included in the proposed ordinance:

 — No combination of motor vehicle, exceeding 9 feet in total structural width, shall park on any dirt, gravel or non-paved street or alley within the Borough of Clearfield.

 — No combination of vehicle or trailer, or trailer by itself, exceeding 42 feet in length, shall park within the Borough of Clearfield unless:
     A. Vehicles specified in this section are engaged in the loading or unloading of consumable goods.
     B. The vehicle or unit is parked in an area designated for parking of vehicles specified in this section.
     C. Said vehicle or unit is parked on private property.
     D. Special exemption is given by the Borough of Clearfield.

 — No vehicle shall emit excessive noise between the hours of 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. Noise is to be determined as excessive by police officers of the Borough of Clearfield.

 — No vehicle or combination thereof, exceeding 5 tons in gross weight, is permitted to park within the Borough of Clearfield unless actively engaged in loading or unloading of consumable goods.

If the council approves the advertisment of the ordinance, it can be voted upon to be made law at a later date.
