Higgins Waives Hearing on Drug Charges

DUBOIS – A man accused of selling heroin in the DuBois area waive his right to a preliminary hearing on Friday.

Darryl Higgins of DuBois is charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Higgins was wanted by the state police and Clearfield County District Attorney’s Office for the sale of heroin spiked with fentonyl. Higgins was taken into custody by police on July 29.

According to court records state police had a confidential informant make two separate controlled buys from Higgins. The first was on April 17. The informant went to Higgins residence. When he returned to the trooper’s vehicle he had purchased four bags of heroin labeled “Top Secret.”

The second buy was made on April 30 at Higgins residence. An informant had told officers that Higgins had three bags of heroin (suspected fentonyl). The informant returned with three bags of heroin marked “New Era.” That batch was sent to the Erie Regional Crime Lab and tested positive for fentonyl.

Higgins is being held in Clearfield County Jail on straight bail.
