Workers to Begin Bridge Repairs in Clearfield County

CLEARFIELD – Starting Monday PennDOT will perform deck repair work on bridges along three state routes in Clearfield County.

Crews will begin repair work on five bridges between mile marker 111 (Penfield) and mile marker 101 (DuBois) on Interstate 80. Two of the bridges are located eastbound while three are located on the westbound lanes. Other work zones include bridges on state Route 153 near Penfield and state Route 53 near Madera. In addition, the contractor will begin bridge pier repairs on U.S. Route 322 near Clearfield.

Crews will eventually move through Clinton, Elk, Cameron, McKean, and Potter counties to perform repairs on 82 bridges. The contractor on the $1.4 million job is Swank Construction and Associates Inc.

Traffic control will be single lane closures on a daily basis. Completion date for the Clearfield County work is Aug. 17. All work is weather dependent.

The state Department of Transportation reminds drivers to move through work zones with caution, obey posted speed limits and to always buckle-up.
