Accused Treasure Lake Burglar’s Case Added to Trial List

DUBOIS – A Michigan man accused of breaking into a Treasure Lake home waived his right to a preliminary hearing Friday before Magisterial District Judge Patrick N. Ford.

Jeffery R. Jackson, 22, whose most recent address is in DuBois, is alleged to have entered the Bay Road, Treasure Lake, home on July 20 at about 3:30 p.m.

Sandy Township Police were dispatched to the home after a resident stated she saw a male in the doorway of her home. She was also able to give a description of the man, according to court documents.

A short time later, police were told that a man fitting Jackson’s description was seen about 100 yards from the home 10 to 15 minutes after the burglary was reported to have happened.

Police obtained a description of the vehicle Jackson was believed to have been driving and found the car on Shaffer Road about two hours following the burglary. The car was followed to a fast food restaurant in Sandy Township.

Officers located Jackson inside and asked him to step outside to answer a few questions.

Jackson was identified by his Michigan ID card.

After telling police several different stories, court papers state that Jackson admitted to breaking into the home.

He said that about one week before the incident, he overheard some people at DuBois City Park talking about a house in Treasure Lake with valuables inside.

On July 20, Jackson said he met at a DuBois gas station where he picked up his friend’s car and entered Treasure Lake with a visitors’ card.

Jackson said he found the home and attempted to enter through sliding glass doors at the back of the home. Those doors were locked, so he went to another entry door and used his upper body to push on the door.

When the door opened, Jackson said he heard a TV or a radio, so he knew someone was home. He then left the home and left Treasure Lake.

In addition to facing charges for burglary, a felony, Jackson is also charged with possession of instruments of crime for a black ski mask and gloves he was found with later. Jackson is also charged with several drug counts for marijuana and prescription medication officers reportedly found in his possession.

Jackson remains in Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

His case will be added to the trial list.
