Rendell Signs Execution Warrant

HARRISBURG — Gov. Edward G. Rendell signed a warrant for the execution by lethal injection of Mark Duane Edwards Jr. of Fayette County.

Edwards’ execution is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept.19.

In May 2004, Edwards was sentenced to die for murdering Larry Bobish Sr., Bobish’s wife, Joanna, and their 17-year old pregnant daughter, Krystal. Edwards was formally sentenced on May 17, 2004.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court affirmed his death sentence on Aug. 21, 2006 and denied re-argument on Oct. 25, 2006.

On Dec. 19, 2006, Edwards filed a petition for writ of certiorari in the U.S. Supreme Court. Certiorari was denied on April 16, 2007.

Edwards is an inmate at the State Correctional Institutional at Greene.

Rendell has now signed 70 death warrants.
