Funds Granted to Clearfield Airport for Land and Development

HARRISBURG (PRNewswire-USNewswire) – As part of a nearly $18.5 million federal funding package, the Clearfield-Lawrence Township Airport will recieve $9,750 for purchase of land for future airport development. 

PennDOT Secretary Allen D. Biehler, P.E., said the money will be distributed to 24 airports across the state to help pay for safety improvements or upgrade existing facilities.

“Airports are critically important to the economic vitality of Pennsylvania,” Biehler said. “This $18.5 million investment will help ensure that these airports continue to operate safely and efficiently.”

Funding for the grants is provided by the federal government and administered by PennDOT’s Bureau of Aviation.

Two other examples of the types of projects that grant money will be used for include $4.1 million for runway improvements to the Joseph A. Hardy Connellsville Airport and $3.3 million to the Chester County/G.O. Carlson Airport for final construction of an apron for parked aircraft.
