Counties Mammography Facilities Checked, Among 115 to Meet Federal Standards for Quarter

HARRISBURG – Two Clearfield County mammography facilities are among a group of 115 inspected during the Department of Environmental Protection’s 2007 second quarter reports. The facilities at Clearfield Hospital and DuBois Regional Medical Center are operating within the guidelines set forth by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

DEP inspects each of Pennsylvania’s approximately 400 certified mammography facilities annually under a contract with FDA, which sets standards for these facilities under the federal Mammography Quality Standards Act.

The inspections help to ensure that this sophisticated equipment is maintained and operated properly. The inspection information is available through a partnership between DEP and the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition. The location of regional mammography facilities and information about their latest inspections is available on DEP’s Web site, keyword: Mammography; then click on “Mammography Facility Inspections in PA.” The following are mammography facilities inspected during the second quarter of 2007:
