JOHNSTOWN – The American Red Cross asks donors to Join the Race to Save Lives this season.
From May 1 thru Oct. 31, donors can feel like winners when they donate blood or platelet products to help hospital patients
in need throughout our 100-county region.
The race is now in lap 12 of 27 in the race to reach our goal of 117,025 units.
Currently, there is less than a one-day supply of O positive and O negative (universal type for red cell transfusions)
There is less than a two-day supply of A positive, B positive, A negative and B negative
Supplies of all blood types are well below the optimal week’s supply.
Through lap 12, 46,787 units have been collected
Lap 13 is running this week.
All presenting donors in the months of July and August will receive a personal beverage cooler (while supplies last) and will be entered into two drawings:
— Two tickets to the 2008 Daytona 500, hotel and travel accommodations
— Gas grill
