CLEARFIELD – At the recent Pennsylvania State Fraternal Order of Eagles state convention in New Cumberland, Orville McCracken of Clearfield Eagles No. 812, past state president, presented two grants totaling $20,000 from the Art Ehrmann Cancer Fund to the Clearfield Foundation for Health.
The funding is earmarked for the Nathaniel D. Yingling, M.D., Cancer Center.
“Clearfield Hospital is grateful for the contribution made to the cancer center by the Fraternal Order of Eagles. The Eagles’ generosity will enable our hospital to continue to provide high quality cancer care to the residents of this region,” stated David J. McConnell, acting president and CEO of Clearfield Hospital.
According to McCracken, at the 2007 State Convention, the Fraternal Order of Eagles bestowed grants totaling $126,000 to organizations across Pennsylvania, including $69,000 from the Art Ehrmann Cancer Fund and $17,000 from the Max Baer Heart Fund.
McCracken emphasized that all the money raised by the Eagles is in the form of donations and there are absolutely no administrative fees, which means every penny goes to the organization’s charities.
Mr. McCracken has again been named chairman for the Art Ehrmann Cancer Fund for the 2007-08 term. He said the Eagles’ motto is “People Helping People.”
Terri Polachek-Beveridge, administrative assistant at Clearfield Hospital, attended the state convention on behalf of the hospital.
The Nathaniel D. Yingling, M.D., Cancer Center, located on the Clearfield Hospital campus, offers medical oncology and radiation therapy. Radiation therapy is provided through a collaborative relationship with Hahne Regional Cancer Center of DuBois Regional Medical Center.
