CLEARFIELD – County employees will have to abide by a county vehicle usage policy that was approved by the Clearfield County Commissioners on Tuesday.
The policy includes all county personnel, voted or appointed, who use county-provided vehicles in their duties.
Some of the items touched upon in the policy include personnel completing a trip data sheet and who can ride within a county vehicle while it is in use among others. Personal use of county owned vehicles is strictly prohibited, as is the use of a county owned vehicle within six hours of drinking alcohol. Smoking is also prohibited in a county owned vehicle, as is the use of a cell phone while the vehicle is in motion.
“We have over 45 cars in the county fleet and we had no guidelines,” said Rex Read, Clearfield County commissioner chairman. “Now we have strict guidelines.”
