BioEnergy, Clearfield Borough Council to Hold Informational Session in August

CLEARFIELD – With the Lawrence Township Cornfield site in limbo, BioEnergy Internation LLC has been looking harder at the Clearfield Technology Park in Clearfield Borough.

Clearfield Borough Council approved holding an informational session with representatives of BioEnergy at Third Ward Fire Hall on Aug. 8 at 7 p.m.

According to council member Joan McMillen, the session will be similar to the one held in Lawrence Township in June.

At that meeting members of neighboring communities voiced their displeasure at BioEnergy’s choice of the Cornfield site. For BioEnergy to utilize that site for their ethanol production and pilot plants, the Lawrence Township Supervisors would need to change the zoning in that area from suburban residential to industrial limited.

Since that meeting on June 26, no formal request for a zoning change has been made.
