Accused Burglar Waives Charges to Court

CLEARFIELD – A 20-year-old man waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday on charges that he broke into a Boggs Township home after stealing a vehicle.

Police were dispatched to U.S. Route 322 in Boggs Township at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday for a report of a crash. Once on scene, state police at Clearfield found that a vehicle was on its roof in the roadway. No one was found inside the vehicle.

Police did contact the owner of the vehicle, learning the car was stolen.

About an hour later, police were dispatched to a nearby burglary.

A homeowner reported being woken by someone in his house. When he confronted the man, the man said he was in the wrong house. The homeowner then escorted him out, only later he learned that there were some coins missing from his house.

A short time later, police located Brandon D. Spafford, and he matched the description provided by the homeowner.

The homeowner was able to identify him as the man who allegedly entered his home uninvited.

Spafford remains in Clearfield County Jail.
