UPDATE: Police Release Name of Suicide Victim

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough Police said a former Lancaster man stole a vehicle and then turned a gun on himself Sunday.

Police were responding to a report of a stolen vehicle Sunday afternoon on North Second Street when they received information that the suspect in the case had returned to a downtown apartment, carrying something that resembled a weapon under a blanket.

When officers arrived, they began to search for Todd Lefevre, and in doing so, found him in a secluded and dark hallway of a downtown building.

Police report that Lefevre pointed a large caliber rifle at an officer and then began to approach a police officer.

The officer ordered him to lower the weapon, but Lefevre refused, instead turning the gun on himself. He fired one fatal shot from the rifle into his head.

Clearfield Borough Police were assisted at the scene by state police, Lawrence Township Police and Curwensville Borough Police.

The investigation continues pending autopsy results.
