DuBois Airport and Two Others Receive Funding

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. John E. Peterson, R-Pleasantville, is announces U.S. Department of Transportation grants for Bradford, Clearfield, and Williamsport airports.

“I am pleased to announce these grants for the folks in Bradford, Clearfield, and Williamsport, as well as the surrounding areas.” said Peterson, co-chair of the Congressional Rural Caucus. “These grants are key investments in rural America, and are vital to these community’s economic growth and expansion.”

The Bradford Regional Airport Authority will receive $450,000 to purchase snow removal equipment, rehabilitate runways, and install advanced runway equipment. DuBois Regional Airport will receive $1,500,000 to construct a vital access road, which will connect with state Route 830. And, in Williamsport, the Municipal Airport will receive $5,100,000 to improve grading, fill and drainage on runways to heighten aircraft safety.

“This is great news. This grant will allow us to conduct further maintenance and improve our airport’s facility for the future use of many. I thank Congressman Peterson for his continued support on this issue,” said Tom Frungillio, Bradford Regional Airport manager.

“We are extremely pleased to receive word of this funding. This grant will allow us to move forward on critical safety improvements to our facility. We can’t thank Congressman Peterson enough for his determined support,” said Cliff Blane, Bradford Regional Airport Board chairman.

“This grant will allow us to finalize the parking and road interchange from our facility to the new Interstate 80/SR 830. We sure appreciate Representative Peterson’s ongoing support,” said Bob Schaffer, DuBois Regional Airport director.

“These improvements were recommended in the master plan approved by the Airport Authority last June in order to improve overall safety for take-offs and landings of commercial and general aviation aircraft and will address the increases in aviation traffic forecasted during the next 20 years,” said Thomas Hart, Williamsport Airport director. “On behalf of the entire airport organization, we thank Congressman Peterson for his ongoing support in helping to secure this grant.”

“Securing these funds is a great success and crucial the travel needs of many Pennsylvanians. I will continue to be an outspoken voice in Washington on behalf of rural America on the issues we face together. I would be remiss not to applaud the hard work done by the staffs at each of these airports,” added Peterson.
