CLEARFIELD – One year after a Clearfield Borough Police officer was assaulted while on duty, the person who did so is still on the loose.
At 9 p.m. May 16, 2006, Officer Brian Dixon was pursuing two male suspects on Bigler Avenue. Dixon was on foot during the chase and suffered a concussion after being assaulted.
Just two days after the incident, Clearfield Borough Police Chief Jeff Rhone instituted policy changes for the department including allowing officers working 11 p.m. until 7 a.m. to ride “double,” meaning two officers per patrol vehicle.
Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. said that this case remains on his Most Wanted page on his Web site, but he is confident that it will be solved.
“Someone knows about this incident, and eventually we will get the information we need to prosecute.”
Anyone with information that could assist police in the investigation into last year’s assault is asked to call Clearfield County Crimestoppers at 800-376-4700. Callers can also contact the Clearfield County District Attorney’s office at 765-2641, extension 5990.
