Criminal Trespass Reported in Philipsburg

PHILIPSBURG – Police reported a distraction-style burglary that happened on Thursday in Philipsburg.

According to Philipsburg-based state police a dark complected woman talked to a 91-year-old woman at her residence, asking for pen and paper. Another dark complected woman then entered the residence and opened cabinets. The older woman insisted that both leave and later discovered that nothing was missing.

Residents are reminded to never allow anyone that is unknown to them inside their homes and to keep additional doors and windows locked if speaking to anyone at the door. Residents should also ask for identification if anyone claims to be with a utility service or home repair contractor, especially if the visit is unscheduled.

Anyone suspecting suspicious activity or have been approached by people offering to repair roofs , driveways, gutters, etc are asked to obtain any information they can safely observe and contact police.
