Cville BB: St. Marys Flying Dutch Stop Golden Tide 13-3

ST. MARY’S—-The Curwensville baseball team stepped up to play AAA St. Mary’s Thursday afternoon and the Flying Dutch responded with a 13-3 victory. The loss snapped a two game winning streak for the Golden Tide who are now 11-5 on the 2007 season.

In what was a very even game till the bottom of the sixth, the Tide did have 9 hits and trailed only 6-3 after five innings. St. Mary’s put the game away with a 7 run bottom of the sixth inning which ended the game due to the ten run mercy rule. Trevor Horton and Cory Bloom each had two hits for Curwensville. Bloom, Justin McGary, Mark Dellantonio and Brandon Hess all hit doubles for the Tide. The Flying Dutch had six extra base hits with designated hitter Cogan hitting a third inning solo home run. Dellantonio knocked in two of the three runs the Tide scored.

Head coach Ryan Briskar said of his Tide, “We just have to get back to work, work real hard, and focus on our next opponent. I was pleased however with how well we hit the ball. Nine hits against a good St. Mary’s team really isn’t that bad.”

The Tide are home Monday for a doubleheader with the Harmony Owls. All the action starts at 4 pm. Follow Curwensville Golden Tide 2007 baseball on line at……………….
