WEST POINT, N.Y. – Sgt. Matt Hamilton of Curwensville was named captain of the West Point rifle team for the 2007-08 season.
Hamilton, a 2004 graduate of the Curwensville Area High School, is finishing up his junior year at the academy.
A three-time letter winner, he has been the No. 1 individual qualifier in smallbore rifle for the National College Athletic Association nationals the past two years. He will be leading the powerhouse “Black Knight” rifle team as they go for thier second national title in four years. They were the 2005 NCAA National champions, third in 2006 and second in 2007.
Hamilton’s major is law, with a minor in mathematics and a minor in engineering.
