CLEARFIELD – After having his hearing continued for two weeks on April 25, Shad Lucas Bloom’s new hearing date is coming up on May 9.
Bloom is charged with criminal attempt to commit homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and related charges.
Court records indicate that Bloom led police on a chase through Clearfield Borough and Lawrence Township before being cornered on Carbon Mine Road. The report states that Bloom tried to back up, and in the process, struck a police officer with his vehicle and nearly struck another officer. Bloom was stopped when officers in a patrol cruiser hit Bloom’s vehicle head on in a legal interdiction. Bloom was then apprehended.
Court documents show that this is not Bloom’s only run-in with the legal system. Bloom is also a suspect in a string or burglaries that occurred in the Grampian area in 2006 that involved Grampian Hardware, Grampian One Stop, and Aletta’s Farm Market as well as Eagle’s Ridge Golf Club in Curwensville.
The burglaries at Aletta’s Farm Market, Grampian One Stop and Grampian Hardware are alleged to have occurred on Sept. 14. Bloom and two others are reported to have pulled the rear door off of the Grampian One Stop and pried open a cash drawer and wrecked the inside. They are accused of stealing 24 packs of cigarettes.
At Grampian Hardware, Bloom and his accomplices are accused of breaking into Grampian Hardware by kicking in the rear door. Once inside it was reported they took money and smashed a cell phone.
Those burglaries were reported to have happened in the early hours of Sept. 14, between 1 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. The one at Aletta’s Farm Market was reported to have occurred around 11:45 p.m. on Sept. 14.
At Aletta’s Bloom and accomplices are accused of forcing in the door to the bait room. Once inside they are alleged to have removed a box of Slim Jims and some change.
Bloom was free on unsecured bail in regard to those cases. Court records indicate that he failed to appear for an arraignment date however, which resulted in a bench warrant being issued.
When police picked Bloom up for his latest run-in with the law it was discovered he had a bench warrant.
