Clearfield’s Assistant Chief Set to Retire

CLEARFIELD – A long-time member of the Clearfield Borough Police Department will step down this summer, after giving more than 20 years of service.

Assistant Chief Joseph Zelenky will retre in either June or July, according to Chief Jeff Rhone’s statements to Clearfield Borough Council Thursday night.

Rhone said he notified council early so that he might soon begin the process of finding a full-time police officer to fill in the ranks.

Rhone asked council to consider offering an early retirement to Zelenky.

The Personnel Committee of Clearfield Borough Council Thursday approved the appointment of two part-time officers. Jonathan Walker and Michael Spencer both also work part-time with other area departments. The full council is expected to vote on the issue Thursday.
