Bradford Township Moves toward Right of Way Purchase

WOODLAND – Bradford Township has an option to purchase a right of way near Old River Road.

The property could be used to install a narrow, railed bridge suitable for pedestrian and bicycle traffic. It is anticipated that this would cut down on four-wheeler usage in and around the park.

Although some citizens believed the four wheelers would simply ride through the creek, most agreed that the purchase would be a sound investment. The board plans to have the land surveyed prior to the purchase and will investigate the cost of a survey.

Township Engineer Ben Gilberti was present to answer questions about the proposed upgrades to the Small Flow Treatment Facilities. This is in response to a communication from DEP concerning the Water Quality Management Permit. The current designs for Small Flow Treatment Facilities no longer meet the new standards. Continued use would mean that those performing the installation could not obtain a general permit for installation. Permits would be costly and need to be reviewed every five years if the township continues with the existing designs. The board voted unanimously to accept the proposed upgrade to meet the new design standards upon review of the paperwork.

Several concerned citizens broached the subject of the sewage contamination in Woodland Park, stating that fencing erected by the board of supervisors has been knocked down and all of the “No Trespassing” signs are gone. The board will contact the Sewer Authority to expedite the clean-up.

Woodland itself will be getting cleaned up as well.

Letters will be sent to the owners of old buildings in disrepair or surrounded by trash, junk, old autos and litter, asking that the property be cleared.

Failure to comply within a specified amount of time will result in fines for those responsible. Board and community members alike are “ired of looking at the mess.”
