Unemployment Down from January Numbers in DuBois MSA

CLEARFIELD – The unemployment rate for the DuBois Metropolitan Statistical Area fell by nearly a full percentage point in February from January’s figures.

Of the 40,600 people classified as civillian laborers in the DuBois MSA for February, about 2,700 of them were listed as unemployed. Those figures equate to 6.6 percent of the labor force being unemployed. That number was down from January when unemployment was listed at 7.5 percent.

When compared to Pennsylvania as a whole, the DuBois MSA fared worse, as the state’s overall unemployment rate was 4.6 percent.

Adjusting the numbers for the season reveals that the DuBois MSA comes closer to the state’s rate of 4 pecent with the DuBois MSA at 4.8 percent.

Across the United States, February unemployment was at 4.9 percent with seasonal adjustment bringing the number to 4.5 percent.
