DuBois Fields Project Update

DUBOIS – Jerry Bankovich of KTH Architects gave the DuBois Area Board of Education an update on the fields’ project Wednesday night.

According to Bankovich all permits for the project are in except for one. Bankovich said that the Department of Environmental Protection permit for wetlands mitigation is still pending. Bankovich added that any wetland mitigation projects have to be advertised by DEP, then a one-month period of public comment will be accepted on the project.

“We’re permitted to do everything on site except on the wetlands,” said Bankovich, who added that the contractor believes they can work work around the wetlands.

The technical review is ongoing, though Bankovich believes that there are no issues on that end of the permit process.

The project includes a couple of fields at the high school, including grass and synthetic turf, an eight-lane track and new tennis courts with the removal of the old courts and additional parking.
