Woman Who Attempted to Smuggle Drugs Into Jail Waives Hearing

CLEARFIELD – A Fallentimber woman accused of trying to smuggle narcotics into her incarcerated boyfriend waived her right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.

Patricia Louise Waite, 19, is waived charges of delivery of a controlled substance and contraband into the Court of Common Pleas.

According to court records, Waite brought a sweatshirt to the Clearfield County Jail on July 12. Guards noticed that she appeared nervous, and once she handed the sweatshirt over, she promptly left the jail.

Guards examined the sweatshirt, felt bulges in the wrists and wrist bands, and x-rayed it. During the examination guards discovered pills of narcotic medication.

Clearfield Borough Police Chief Jeff Rhone and Sheriff’s Deputy Rob Snyder searched for Waite. When they found her on July 27, she initially denied the allegations. She eventually admitted to it, according to court documents. She told police that while talking to her boyfriend he told he was in pain and wanted the pills. She allegedly admitted to opening the seams of the sweatshirt and placing the pills in the garment.

Waite is free on unsecured bail.
