Tree Causes Power Outage Tuesday

BELLS LANDING – Tree crews working between Bells Landing and Mahaffey dropped a tree across a power line Tuesday afternoon causing a power interruption that affected about 800 Penelec customers.

According to John Shimko, Penelec area manager, just before 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, the tree contacted a main line that runs from Glen Campbell to Curwensville. The tree contact broke a cross arm and brought down a section of wire. Penelec crews were dispatched to the area and were able to isolate the problem area by manual switching. Most of the customers had power restored around 2:10 p.m. Crews then made the necessary repairs and completed restoration around 3:40 p.m.

Remember to treat all downed wires as energized and dangerous. Do not approach or try to move downed wires. Please call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-478-8465) to report downed wires and power outages.
