HARRISBURG – State Rep. Camille “Bud” George, D-74 of Houtzdale, is reminding residents that April 13 is the deadline to apply for Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program — LIHEAP — grants.
“LIHEAP recipients who have already received $300 in crisis benefits can now apply for an additional $100 if they experience another home-heating emergency,” said Rep. George, who noted cash grants of $100 or more also are available to help pay heating bills.
LIHEAP information and applications are available at county assistance offices. The numbers, regular and toll free, are:
â— Clearfield County, 765-0684 and 800-862-8941
â— Jefferson County, 938-2990 and 800-242-8214
â— Elk County, 772-5215 or 776-1101 and 800-847-0257
Information and applications also are available online.
An individual earning up to $14,700 annually is eligible — add $5,100 for each additional family member. A family need not be on public assistance to qualify for LIHEAP, and a lien will not be placed on a family’s property because it receives a LIHEAP grant.
