Late Winter Storm Packing a Wallop

CLEARFIELD – The National Weather Service is predicting that the winter storm hitting Clearfield and surrounding counties will intensify Friday night.

The storm is expected to bring snowfall totals of between 6 and 10 inches to Central Pennsylvania.

Periods of light snow or snow showers will bring an additional inch or two to the region on Saturday.

Because of the weather, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 8 a.m. Saturday.

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow or ice are expected or occurring. Any travel is strongly discouraged. Those with travel plans in the warned area are advised to choose an alternate route or should use extreme caution if travel is unavoidable.

Travelers should carry extra supplies including blankets, food and a cell phone in case their car becomes disabled.

Snow is expected to fall at varying intensities through Friday. The period for the heaviest amound of snow will be from now until midnight when snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour will occur.
