SSA Reports on Monthly Meeting

SINNEMAHONING – The officers and directors of the Sinnemahoning Sportsmen’s Association held their regular monthly meeting Feb. 25.

Kathy Fabin reported the total membership for 2007 at 4,546. The club has set a goal of 6,000 members this year.

Larry Erickson, coyote hunt chairman, reported that the second annual coyote hunt held Feb. 16-18 was very successful. A total of 468 hunters registered with 10 coyotes harvested. Logan Guenot, Moshannon, received first prize of $1,404. Guenot harvested the largest coyote at 45.2 pounds. The other nine successful hunters received $104 each.

Plans are in the works for the 2008 hunt.

Jerry Martin of Bellefonte won the hand-crafted hunting knife.

It was decided to sponsor a page in the Friends of the NRA 2007 banquet program book for the Clearfield-Centre county fundraising banquet March 10 at St. Mary’s Social Hall, Frenchville. For more information and reservations, call Oscar Moore at 692-8403.

The Susquehanna Chapter of the Wild Turkey Association will issue free membership to the Jake Club of the turkey association to all junior members of the SSA. The SSA will supply all the information that is needed.

Within the next two weeks, a date will be announced for a work party to prune old fruit trees in order to provide more feed for wildlife.

The winning 50-50 ticket for Feb. 24 has not been turned in. The winning ticket number is 541562.
