Trooper Accidentally Shot in Jefferson County

BROCKWAY – State police are not releasing much information about the accidental shooting of a state police trooper in Jefferson County Thursday.

According to GantDaily.com partner Channel 6 News, the incident happened at The Hut Family Restaurant outside of Brockway.

The two troopers involved were working an undercover investigation there at the time. The pair was arresting a suspect when one of the trooper’s guns went off accidentally, wounding the other trooper. That trooper was taken from the restaurant to a hospital by helicopter. Channel 6 is reporting that the trooper’s injuries are not life-threatening.

State police have not released the identities of the troopers or the suspect.
