PSP Promotes Kimberly A. Leemhuis to Captain

HARRISBURG – State Police Commissioner Jeffrey B. Miller promoted Kimberly A. Leemhuis of DuBois, Clearfield County, to captain and assigned her as director of the State Police Recruitment and Special Services Office.

Leemhuis, 47, most recently served as commander of the Patrol Section at Troop C, Punxsutawney.

A native of Erie County, Leemhuis enlisted in the State Police in 1986. Following her training at the State Police Academy in Hershey, she was assigned to Troop C, Punxsutawney.

As she progressed through the ranks, Leemhuis also served at stations in Stonington, Emporium and Clearfield and with the Computer Operations Division in the State Police Bureau of Technology Services. She was promoted to corporal in 1995, to sergeant in 1999 and to lieutenant in 2002.

Leemhuis received a bachelor’s degree in administration of justice from Penn State University in 1981. She also is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and the Pennsylvania Women in State Government Leadership Development Institute.

Leemhuis is married to John W. Leemhuis Sr., a native of Erie County.
