S.A.L.T. Group Reactivated

CLEARFIELD – S.A.L.T., an acronym for Single Adult Leadership Team, was once an active group for Christian singles in the Clearfield/Curwensville area. S.A.L.T. took its first step toward reorganization on Feb. 10. Nineteen new and former members met at the Hyde Wesleyan Church develop activities of mutual interest.

S.A.L.T. will be open to all singles regardless of age or denomination, whether they are widowed or divorced or have never been married. According to Linda Schwartz, the guiding force behind the reorganization, “The purpose of S.A.L.T. is for Christian singles to hold fellowship and get to know one another, without entering the dating scene. Ultimately, we hope to find needs within the community for the membership to fulfill.”

S.A.L.T.’s mission statement is “to glorify God by creating a body of single believers who support each other’s needs for Christian fellowship and spiritual growth and by becoming the Lord’s hands and feet as members reach out in community service.”

Several activities were scheduled including an outing for sledding and sloppy joes at Bonnie Koontz’s home, a dinner at Hyde Wesleyan featuring a luau with picnic foods, and bowling at Clearfield Lanes. Additional activities were discussed including a game and card night, potluck suppers, ice skating, biking, Monday night volleyball at 7 p.m. weekly at Hyde Wesleyan, a progressive dinner, roller skating, a homemade ice cream social and a book club.

The next meeting will be held March 10 at 6 p.m. at Hyde Wesleyan. It will feature refreshments and the movie, “One Night with the King,” the story of Esther. The church is located at 1215 Riverview Road. For information or directions, please call Linda Schwartz at 236-3674 or Ruth Ann Hoffman at 765-3284.
