G.I.N. to Sponsor Training

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Geriatric Interest Network will offer two training courses for direct care workers. This course will satisfy seven hours of the 12 hours of training mandated annually by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare for personal care staff and provide clock hours for staff of in-home care providers as well.

Direct Care Worker Training will be held at two locations in order to reach staff members in all areas of Clearfield and neighboring counties. The first session will be held on April 18 at Clarion Hotel in DuBois. An identical session will be held April 25 at the Clearfield Elks Club, BPOE No. 540. Each session will run from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The cost of the course is $15 per person and includes lunch.

Topics to be covered include body mechanics techniques including fall and accident prevention; infection control including universal precautions; resident rights and protective services; gerontology; nutrition and sanitation; social services and recreation; and Personal Care Home regulations. The target audience includes staff members of personal care homes, direct care workers for in-home services providers, and private caregivers.

Seating is limited, so interested parties are urged to make reservations early.
