CLEARFIELD COUNTY – Mail order scams are again occurring throughout the county according to Clearfield-based state police.
In this series of scams a resident would received a check that appears to be original, but is in fact fake. The check is said to pay the taxes of lottery winnings from Canada. It asks the resident to contact an employee of the lottery.
Before depositing the check, police suggest residents contact their local bank or contact state police at 857-3800.
